We’re located at 1056 Rubyvale Road, Sapphire Central, QLD 4702 — just a short 40-minute drive from Emerald, QLD.

How do I get to Pat’s Gems? Are there any public transport options?

Public transport is limited in the Sapphire region, so we recommend driving. If you’re staying nearby, some local accommodations may offer shuttle services.

Is there parking on-site?

Yes, we have plenty of free parking available on-site for all visitors.

What are your opening hours?

We’re open daily from 8:30am to 2:00pm. We recommend arriving early to make the most of your fossicking experience.

What To Expect

Do I need to bring my own gear for fossicking?

We recommend wearing closed-in shoes and long sleeves for safety and comfort. All fossicking equipment is provided on-site.

Is the park family-friendly?

Absolutely! Pat’s Gems is a popular destination for families and kids of all ages. Children love the hands-on gem washing experience.

Is this suitable for first-timers?

Yes! Beginners are most welcome — you don’t need any prior experience. Our friendly staff will guide you through the entire fossicking process.

How long does the average visit take?

We offer a range of experiences. Some guests fossick for an hour or two, while others spend the whole day enjoying everything on offer — including historical tours, lunch at our licensed café, and browsing our jewellery and gemstone displays. If you’d like to explore it all, we recommend arriving early.
